Dog Behaviour Policy
Ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment for all dogs and their owners is a key reason for this policy. Our dog day care centre prioritise safety and a harmonious environment for all dogs.
We do not accept dogs that are unsociable, boisterous, aggressive towards other dogs or people.
Unsociable, boisterous, aggressive dogs can pose risks to other dogs, clients and members of staff:
1. **Safety:** Aggressive dogs can potentially harm other dogs or people, leading to injuries and creating a stressful environment.
2. **Social Dynamics:** Boisterous or unsociable dogs may disrupt the balance of the group, affecting the overall experience for other dogs.
3. **Training and Supervision:** Managing aggressive or unsociable behaviours requires additional training and supervision, which can be challenging for staff.
4. **Insurance and Liability:** Daycares face higher insurance costs or liability concerns with aggressive dogs, impacting their decision to accept such animals.
5. **Staff Safety** Dog that display these behaviours, may pose a risk to members of staff, patrons and other dogs.
We do not to accept certain bull breeds:
1. **Insurance and Liability:** Our insurance policies has restrictions and higher premiums for certain breeds due to perceived risks. This can make accepting bull breeds financially impractical for our daycare.
2.. **Behavioural Concerns:** Bull breeds are sometimes perceived to have stronger, more aggressive tendencies. Although this is not universally true, the perception can influence policies due to concerns about potential aggression.
3. **Safety and Group Dynamics:** Our daycares aim to ensure a safe environment for all dogs. If bull breeds are known for specific behavioural traits or if past experiences have shown difficulties, then we will not accept the breed.
4. **Staff and patron safety** The breeds, size, weight and strength, may prove to difficult for members of staff to control, this is also the same when interacting with other dogs or clients. The may cause injury to members staff or other dogs.
5. **Regulations and Policies:** Durham County Council have breed-specific legislation that impacts the acceptance of certain breeds in public spaces. Dangerous Dog Acted 1991.
Our daycare's policy are shaped by experiences, insurance requirements, and the goal of maintaining a safe, balanced environment for all dogs.
